The media library in Sarreguemines

It is in the heart of the city centre, in the “Carré Louvain” shopping mall, that the Sarreguemines Confluences community media library offers users its collections and services.
From comic books to novels, via CDs, DVDs, documentaries or even magazines, the public can borrow or consult numerous works on site. The Media Library has developed specific collections in languages, particularly in the regional language, Frankish / Platt.
Added to this is access to the Internet and office software, the possibility of settling into workspaces equipped with WIFI, but also a whole range of activities, both regular and occasional.

The Media Library is part of the public reading network of the Sarreguemines Confluences Agglomeration Community, made up of 14 local libraries.

Many

Services

It is possible to reserve documents on the website, by telephone on 03 87 28 60 80 or via the Media Library's Facebook page. When the documents are ready, users are notified by SMS and e-mail and can pick up the reservations during the opening hours of the Media Library.
Readers who do not know which documents to borrow can request a bookbox, with a selection of documents prepared by the librarians. To access this service, an information sheet must be completed by telephone on 03 87 28 60 80 or downloaded from the Media Library website.
Ebook

Subscribers have the option of downloading digital books from the Media Library website. This service, included in the subscription, allows you to borrow digital books remotely and download them on different media: tablets, e-readers (except Kindle), smartphone or computer.
If a user does not have a reading medium, the Media Library provides readers pre-loaded with a wide range of books (more than 190). It is also possible to have the documents listed in the catalog uploaded on request.

This self-training system makes it possible to learn foreign languages, music, with music theory lessons for example, or even the highway code. Added to this is the handling of office software, such as the Open Office suite, or multimedia, such as Photoshop. Several hundred hours of training are available.

Users with reduced mobility can benefit from this service and bring all kinds of documents (books, magazines, read texts, CDs, DVDs).
At each visit by a librarian, by appointment, the previous documents are taken up and new titles are deposited. This service is free.

A reciprocity agreement allows subscribers to the Media Library to benefit from free registration to the University Library – Holderith Center located at the Pôle Ecole, Place Jeanne d'Arc in Sarreguemines.

It gives access to documents in law, management and education, as well as to all the resources of the network of libraries of the University of Lorraine, thanks to the reservation system and the routing of documents between the sites.

The University Library – Holderith Center created in 2008 in partnership with the Sarreguemines Confluences Agglomeration Community, is a space of shared resources where students from Sarreguemines university courses and teachers rub shoulders. It provides access to legal, management and pedagogical documents, as well as to all the resources of the University of Lorraine's library network, thanks to the system for reserving and routing documents between sites.

It emphasizes the learning of German and regional languages.

The Mediatheque conducts cooperation projects with Germany. Thus, any user registered with the Mediatheque can register for free with the Saarbrücken library, under reciprocal agreements between the two communities.
In addition, the Media Library is involved in the cross-border bookmobile project which serves many schools in Moselle and Sarre to help people discover the language and culture of their neighbour.
