September 19, 2022: presentation of the cross-border cooperation prize

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Eurodistrict SaarMoselle organized the third cross-border cooperation award ceremony on September 19, 2022 at the "Le Gouvy" room in Freyming-Merlebach.

The purpose of this ceremony is to honor the people who commit themselves on a daily basis with conviction to Franco-German relations on the territory of the Eurodistrict, and this, for the most part, on a voluntary basis.

The evening opened with welcome speeches by Laurent Muller, vice-president of the community of communes of Freyming-Merlebach, Gilbert Schuh, president of the Eurodistrict SaarMoselle and Bruno Charlot, sub-prefect of Forbach/Boulay-Moselle. highlighting local actions to keep Franco-German friendship alive.

For Gilbert Schuh, “cross-border cooperation is an important local political mission, but it is also experienced on a daily basis by our fellow citizens and it is important to honor them and encourage all actions that contribute to better living together. »

During the award ceremony, the winners and the presidency of the Eurodistrict SaarMoselle as well as the presidents and representatives of the members of the EGTC were invited to go on stage to pay tribute to the persons nominated by their local authorities and to present them with a medal of recognition. 'honor.

For the Community of Agglo, it was Jean-Yves Haus, president of the water sports association L'Eau Reine in Sarreguemines, who was honored. Gérard Burg, from the association L'Eau Reine, and Arlette Kremer, vice-president of the Sarreguemines tourist office, were present to receive the prize on behalf of the winner. Mr. Haus notably created the association "Amitié sur l'Eau" with presidents of associations from France, Germany and Luxembourg and played a decisive role in the development of river tourism in Sarreguemines, in particular by creating the nautical association "L'Eau Reine" in 1993 and by organizing a river festival whose profits enabled the association to buy a boat for the AFAEI (association to help families of disabled children), who still sails today on the various channels with handicapped children. Every year Mr. Haus also takes part in the Saar Show (Saar-Spektakel) in Saarbrücken.
